Two Arrests in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

This incident caused the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a theft at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

The arrests follow a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Officers detained a man in his thirties for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of several people injured by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
